The beautiful islands of Malta and Gozo lie in the middle of the blue Mediterranean Sea about fifty miles to the south of Sicily. The Maltese rocky coastline is surrounded by clear unpolluted waters with verygood visibility. Here you can dive to discover and explore the lively marine life of the crystal clear water for an experience of a lifetime.
No tides and no currents in the Maltese waters, enhanced with very good visibility underwater and a warm climate all year round, Malta is one of the top scuba diving destinations in the Mediterranean and it's easy done too as accessing its long shores is quite easy.
Set in the middle of the blue Mediterranean sea, the Maltese Islands enjoy the best climate in Europe, a wealth of scenic beauty and a vast inheritance of culture. Underwaterworld Diving Centre, located in the heart of Bugibba, Qawra and St. Paul's Bay, very close to bus terminus. Just a few metres away one can find night life, casinos, discos, bars, traditional restaurants and take-aways.
The combination of sheer cliffs, cave, wrecks, shelves and sandy and rocky sea beds, means there is a large variety of fauna and flora to see in the Maltese waters. It would be too difficult to list them all. Wrecks, as artificial reef habitats, have provided a home for a greater number of species in recent years and make excellent dive sites.
There are many DIVE SITES perfect for any level: shallow 5 to 18 m wrecks & amazing reef for Beginners; plenty of wreck / cavern / reef dives at 30 – 40 m for Advanced; deep wrecks from World War I & II made Malta one of the best places for Technical Divers.
When diving in Malta one can also occasionally spot John Dory, mostly during wintertime, since they normally live a greater depth. Corals are also found on arches, reefs and caves. They glow form wonderful orange to pink color and are particularly excellent to photograph at night.
There are a few sea animals to watch but not handle as they have vicious or poisonous bristles and spines. Keep your eyes open for the scorpion fish, bristle worms, sea urchins and the stingray.
